Leah’s style is very playful yet deeply expressive all at once and the sound pulls from her love of soul, blues and folk music and the beauty of well-crafted song from any genre.
Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, now residing in Berkeley, California, Leah (Lee-ah) Tysse (Tie-see) began singing and performing at a young age as a member of very musical family. Leah has played for audiences from The Monterey Blues Festival to Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee and her songs have been featured on radio across the country and in Europe. Since arriving in California in 1998, Leah has also been a featured soloist at Glide Memorial Church in San Francisco and can be seen singing in the film “The Pursuit of Happyness” with Will Smith, filmed partially at Glide Memorial.
Her first album “Real Good Fire” has met great success, receiving songwriting accolades from Billboard for Best R&B/Blues Song of 2008. She has just put the finishing touches on her follow-up album “Love Again”, a soulful blend of infectious grooves and lyrical songwriting, featuring an all-star line-up of musicians.
